Foundation

  • 2009: Dr. Bronner’s and Serendipalm launched the world’s first commercial organic and fair-trade palm oil project in Ghana.
  • Motivation: No fairly produced organic palm oil was available on the market, so they built their own project.
  • Part of the Serendi family of fair and ecological farming projects (since 2005).

Serendipalm is growing

  • Purchase of palm fruit (and cocoa) from over 600 local organic smallholder farmers.
  • No monocultures, no rainforest clearing.
  • Production in Asuom (Eastern Region, Ghana).

The difference…

  • Small plot sizes (2–3 ha) instead of vast plantations.
  • Over 250 jobs created through labor-intensive, simple production processes.
  • Strong integration into local communities and development projects.
  • Production volume: up to 30 tons of palm oil per week (intentionally small-scale and sustainable).
